Ten Things Thursday...last time in May!

Loving the 10 random things by Laura Belle
1.) I lost another 2 lbs today.....holy crack balls...things are starting to move
2.) Thought I may be too tight yesterday but then last night the band opened up and I could have soup and a skinny cow...I could not eat chili at lunch though...this morning it does not take me as long to drink my shake
3.) Having hair conundrums...it does not want to behave...just got it cut but it seems like I have a bunch of fly aways..could be that my hairdresser was puking the whole time..hmmm
4.) Here comes that PHX heat...ughh got spoiled this weekend in the 80's
5.) Last week of hubby driving in to work...then its full time from home....so jealous
6.) Hope I don't kill hubby on the days we work from home together.
7.) I am giving a party this Friday for a couple -couples from church...making lasagne...not sure I can even eat it...probably will have to stick to the salad I am making
8.) Feel like I am throwing away too much food...need to determine how to not waste so much food.  I mean I do like that I am eating next to nothing but I did not anticipate this and bought to much at the store last weekend.  I did not plan on going in for the fill this week so that is probably it..will try better at planning this weekend grocery shopping.
9.) I am slacking on my wifely cooking duties..I have not been cooking been making Johnny sandwhiches all week for dinner and crackers/meat/cheese for lunch...feeling bad
10.) Need to get a container to store my hose in...went to use it and the sun had turned it black and eaten a whole in it---or maybe it just cracked....that sun is evil down here so I am going to say it ate  a hole in it.

now off to update ticker........

Oh holy tight!

So my hubby gave his notice and his last day of work is this Friday.  We use his insurance because it rocks and mine basically sucks.  I am not sure when his new insurance will kick in if it is right away or after 90 days so I ran to my doc to get my last fill(that I know of) covered by insurance...took me to 5.25cc in my little band.  I had a hard time getting down my shake last night...thinking back I should have left the banana out..they sometimes are hard to digest.  Today I am rocking a shake and it is taking me a bit to get it all down.
I was down a lb from last week...so I get to adjust my ticker...finally....yeay!!!  now what was that password.
I am a little nervous to eat...today is still liquids and soups but I can feel the tightness...I mean really drinking a shake must be done slow.   Now drinking crystal light is no problem....Hoping the weight starts dropping faster and that my new insurance will pay for fills.  It is still going to be through AETNA but every company negotiates a different plan and I am hoping the bariatric rider is included with my hubbies new insurance.
I am not sure how long I will be this tight.  I have read others that they loosen up as they lose the weight so will this last me a month...2 months.  I am going to pay close attention to the protein intake because yesterday I only got in 60g and probably should have gotten closer to 80g.  My little boy came out grinning from summer camp....had a blast...can't wait to go back today....what a relief!  I was worried he wouldn't know anyone but that didn't stop him he said he recognized a few people from soccer so that made it easier.

Day after Holiday...how are YOU doing?

So I made it thru the holiday!  Did I eat the best.....well...I had good choices and a few bad choices....but you know what my band helped me on those bad choices.  I did not gain any weight...but I did not seem to lose any either?  I am back on the wagon again today...which is all I can do.  I ate way to much watermelon...dang that stuff tastes good cold on a warm day!  And of course I can eat bucket loads of the stuff....hate to say I fell off the wagon just on watermelon.  We went out to eat twice this weekend.  One day it was Olive Garden....I was worried but I had minestrone soup and the apricot chicken(I had watched a special on Dr. Oz that the apricot chicken was an awesome choice only 400 calories and no carbs) So I only ate 1/2 of it and my soup.  It was really good!  took the rest home.  The other time out it was Ocho Loco and I order a quesadilla....probably a bad choice.  Had one 3 bites got stuck.  Took it home and tried next day..same problem.  I had heard that tortillas can be dangerous and I agree it was not going to happen.
I did have skinny cow ice cream sandwich that was really good.
Today is my little boys first day of summer camp at the public schools.  He is meeting all new kids and I am all anxietal over it.   I did not talk about it with him because I did not want him to feel or get my anxiety.  I hope he makes some new buddies and has a great time.  Why must my social issues translate down to my son...he does take after his daddy who is very outgoing and friendly...ughh my hangups do not need to be my sons hangups.
I will let you all know how it goes but I am prepared for it to take a couple weeks to make friends so I don't expect him to find his new best friend for the summer...but it would so put my mind at ease if he did.

On the band front....I am skipping my breakfast and having a shake now in the am...and it seems to be working pretty good.  I am really trying to get my protein in and need that shake everyday to do so.

Thank God for Monday.....

Sometimes the weekend is great and other times your so dang busy you can't wait to relax on Monday.  I am actually more jacked that memorial day weekend is coming and I get some time off!! woot woot!!
We had a BBQ pool party at friends house yesterday..boy the sun can drain you.  I was exhausted afterwards and I really did not do much.  Now Johnny I am not sure how he could walk...he jumped in the pool so many times and got out and swam I was exhausted just watching him!
Food was ok.....evenings are still super hard....I eat too much after 4....hubby ordered pizza and I abstained but he also got wings and I did eat 3...but that was all I could eat so I was pretty amazed at that...thought I had eaten 1/2 a dozen but found out there were only 8 in a box and hubby had the rest...still probably too many calories in those 3
I have my fill tomorrow not sure where he will take me, sitting at 4.0 cc right now so I am thinking he may take me to 5 or 4.5?  Not sure what I can eat after that so it was hard buying groceries and setting myself up this week.  I went with my old standbye....canned chicken.

I really do like the stuff, it fills me fast and keeps me full longer.  I did have salmon last night that was super yummy and I had 2 cheese perogies and a salad...see ate more than 1 cup at that meal..but it was after 4...I open up at that time.
I have been super busy at work so not quite getting my walks in but still managing to keep it at 9000 steps which I am pretty happy with.  Tried to take pic of fountain but didin't make it.
I was suppose to get dog groomed yesterday but the groomer broke down on the freeway..felt bad for her...not sure when she is going to make it back up to my house...
Chickened out on the haircut just got a trim...mainly because she was having a bad day.  She found out she was pregnant(not planned, she is not married or engaged) and she was sick the whole time she was doing my hair...she would leave and go throw up...I was sitting in the chair quite a bit waiting for her.  Then after she colored and cut it she said...I can't bow dry you?  I said what?  She said I am just too sick I will give you $10 off.  I tried to sympathize but I was bummed.  I was going to finish running errands after my haircut but had to go home and finish doing my hair before I went out.  The funny thing was I dropped my last hair stylists because she had a baby and was always changing my appointment because(the baby had a fever, the baby got dropped by big brother had to go to er, she was tired) there was an excuse every time I got my haircut.  I don't mind a cancellation every once in awhile but it was 4 times in a row that I said ENOUGH.  She was great until she had the baby...so I got a new one and now I am thinking this is going to be along the same lines....hubby says I should get a gay hairdresser.....I told him I don't really interview hair dressers like that but I am trying to be patient

Dutch Baby Recipe

So I had a few people ask what a dutch baby is.....total food porn here...I hope I don't make any of you fall off the wagon.....

The Recipe

Makes 4 to 6 servings:
6 eggs, room temperature
1 cup milk, room temperature
1 cup sifted bread flour or all-purpose flour*
1/4 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
5 tablespoons butter
Freshly-squeezed lemon juice
Powdered (confectioners') sugar
* Bread flour is a high-protein flour. The high protein helps the pancake rise. All-purpose flour may be substituted but the results won't be as spectacular.

Instructions:
1.  Preheat oven to 450 degrees F. NOTE: It is very important that you preheat your oven. Place oven rack on the middle rack of your oven. Place a large, heavy ovenproof frying pan or a cast iron skillet (I like to use my 10-inch cast-iron skillet), in the oven until hot and sizzling. While pan is heating, prepare your batter.
NOTE: Use a shallow pan, not more than 3 inches deep (pie pans, cast iron skillets, oven-proof fry pans, baking dishes, paella pans). Like I said before, I prefer using a cast iron skillet or pan because it acts as a heat reservoir, retaining the heat and distributing it evenly.
2.  In a large bowl, beat the eggs until light and frothy; add milk, flour, vanilla extract, and cinnamon; beat for 5 minutes more. The batter will be thin, but very smooth and creamy.
Using a pot holder, remove the hot skillet from the oven; add the butter; tilting the pan to melt the butter and coat the skillet.
3. Pour the prepared batter into the hot skillet, all at once, and immediately return the skillet to the oven.
4.  Bake approximately 20 to 25 minutes or until puffed and golden brown (bake until the pancake puffs up around the edges - it may puff irregularly in the center).
5.  Remove from oven and serve immediately. Either bring the pancake to the table in its pan or slide it onto a serving plate. Once out of the oven, the pancake will begin to deflate.
6.  To serve, cut into serving-size wedges and transfer to individual serving plates. Top with your favorite topping and serve immediately. For a classic German Pancake/Dutch Baby, sprinkle with freshly squeezed lemon juice, and dust the top with powdered sugar.

Ten Things Thursday

1.)  I was down another pound today on the scale...holy cow that is awesome!
2.)  Wonder when my eyes will be the same as my stomach?  I still seem to take more food than I can eat and pack more than I can eat.  Not really a problem...just don't want to waste food
3.) TANG is my new evil....way to much sugar but man oh man I forgot how great it tastes...I sampled at costco awhile back with my son and he said GET THAT IT TASTES GREAT!

4.)  My fountain outside is almost ready for me to turn on...can't wait..its been sitting back there for 2 years waiting for someone to buy it a new pump and put caulking around it to seal it.   It takes 7-14 days to seal so I am almost at 7 days........will post a pic. Its a ball bubbler all made of concret.
5.) My grass is almost green....I had to spray weed be gone because there was actually more weeds than grass...after I killed the weeds I had to seed and now I am getting close to having it all filled in....boy yardwork is hardwork.
6.) I am getting my hair colored and cut on Saturday...its getting long and I like it, I just don't like it in 107 degrees...I always seem to where it up.
7.) Need to get Johnny either a scooter or new bike.  His bike right now is just too small...looks like a clown riding a small bike.  Not sure which one he would use more...
8.) My mom is all but shoving chicken eggs down my throat.  Her chickens are now laying 20 eggs a day...there is only so many eggs you should eat without worrying about cholesterol.  Must boil 3 dozen tonight to make them last longer without going bad.
9.) Anyone heard of a dutch baby....?  I just love them you make them in your oven about 4 eggs, some milk and a stick of butter(?must be good right).  I just LOVE those things but I am trying to avoid making it because of the butter and probably would get stuck.
10.) Must work enough play

Happy Wednesday!

So I am still riding my high with restriction.  I am amazed at how little I actually eat now to get full.  I keep packing my lunch full of options and only seem to eat 1/2 or 1/4 of what I pack.  LOVING IT!  I was wondering if it would really happen or if I would struggle throughout this whole ordeal.  I can totally see now that this thing is really going to make it easier for me to diet.
I didn't get my steps in yesterday but it was hard because I had a lot of errands and work to do.  Plus my friend Jay, who is staying with us, got a vasectomy yesterday so I had to run him to the office and then pick him up and then get his meds and then get him food....it was like I had a 2nd child--lol!  Men...they can be children at times :)
My mom is taking my son camping over memorial day weekend so I am not sure what hubby and I are going to do...and actually quite thrilled with the idea!  We almost joined a golf outing with some church friends but I noticed it was only the men doing it and here is my cheap nature----it was $70 a person and I of course would rather spend that money elsewhere so we probably won't do that.
I used to plan celebrations around food but now I am thinking more about doing stuff...food still gives me anxiety because not everything goes down smoothly some things take me an extremely long time to eat which is not fun when people are watching me eat.
Only 1 week of school left...crazy...then Johnny starts summer camp, which will be new for him and I hope he makes new friends fast...I probably have more anxiety over it than him so I am trying REALLY hard not to let my anxiety show or he will adopt it....he is such a little sponge.
Have a great Wednesday people!

Monday.schmonday

Yep another monday and I feel like the weekend flew by.  We had a party at our house on Saturday..we invited a couple families and my mom and hubby over.  I was going to grill hamburgers and hot dogs but the more I thought about it I did not want to be cooking after spending all morning at the waterpark so I order a 4 ft sub sandwhich and then made sides...fruit salad and I made my salsa and chips.  My mom brought over jello poke cake..that was yummy on a hot day..forgot how much I like them.  It was an interesting party..I only was able to eat two bites of sub...um hello no bready for me.  I had a couple bites of pineapple...but I find pineapple also fills me up way fast.  But the sherbert ice cream and cake I had no problem eating but I did limit it to half piece cake and 1/2c sherbert.  and then later that night I had a hot dog---no bread---bad choice I know...bad nighttime munchies....I was so bummed I ate it because otherwise I was pretty good all day.
Next day mothers day, we went to dinner at L o g a n s  S t e a k h o u s e after our mani/pedis(with my mommy) and I had a salad there.  I only ate 1/4 of the salad there....I was too slow they were all done eating and waiting on me so I took the rest home and finished there.  I passed on the bread and the chicken strip appetizers because I knew I would never make it to my salad.
So overall I am ok with the food this weekend..could have been worse.  I DID NOT get in my walking this weekend...for shame.  I only got in 7000 steps on Saturday and 4000 on Sunday such a shame.  It was hot and I didn't feel like walking...I think the only reason I got in  7000 steps was all the cleaning  I did in the morning getting ready for party...mopping/sweeping and vacuuming.
I like the restriction I have and I am trying to make the most of it this week by eating more protein.. I can now see how I could easily not get in enough protein.  Even eating veg's and fruits will fill me up if I eat them first so I am going to make an effort this week to eat more protein.  I swear every fill is like starting over...but I LOVE IT.  I am feeling so intune with my body and I can finally see how this is going to be successful if I use it the right way.  I have my 3rd fill next week and dare I say it, that may be sweet spot for awhile.
On the weight front I am almost back to my 245..right now I am hovering at 248.5 so I am close I think I may hit it by Wednesday....so it will be nice to finally see something lower next week.

BYOC

BYOC - Bring Your Own Crazy!

It’s Friday fun day! That means it’s time for BYOC – Bring Your Own Crazy! We answer a few questions to get to know each other better and to give our blogging brains a break. Copy to your own blog if you so desire and have fun!

1. Are you a “wake up on the first beep of the alarm clock” or a “hit the snooze button 50 times before you get up” kind of person? Is your alarm clock set to the right time?

• This all ties into the OCD question as you will soon understand.  Yes I wake up with the first beep of the alarm clock at 3:45am sometimes just wake up without it....sad sad life I lead.

2. Do you decorate for any holidays other than Christmas?

• Never really professed myself as a girly girl but I love to decorate for the holidays.  I do most but I am still looking for some cool summer door hanger...my last one fell apart.  I have hearts for valentines day, bunnies for Easter, scarecrows for fall..yes I am a dork.

3. Would you consider yourself a spontaneous fly by the seat of your pants kind of person or a massive OCD controlling planner kind of person or someone in between?

• Ok for the most part I am OCD.  I love to make lists...you will find them in my phone on pieces of paper around my house.  I plan everything out.  On vacation I like to play it by ear.  I don't like to plan things but I like to plan options, because you never know how you might be feeling when  you wake up

4. Tell me some of your MUST have hair products that you use consistently….you know - share your “hair routine”.

• I spend usually on the shampoo/conditioner sometimes I use that falic bed head (pink bottle...you know what it looks like--really who invented that thing) for smoothing.

Blow dry and sometimes I put it up otherwise I leave it down.  I use Pantene hairspray lightspray with my hair up in a clip to give it body while I put my makeup on then take the clip out and use the sticky hairspray to glue it in place :)   If its summer, my hair is usually hot..BECAUSE its usually 110 here in the shade for 4 months out of the year.

5. Repeat question: How was your week and what are your upcoming weekend plans?

• My week was great I got my fill and can really feel restriction.   I am now at 4 cc and I can tell that my portions are a lot smaller now.. I can actually do the 1/2 - 1 cup a food at mealtime.  Finally so I hope the weight starts to come off.   Have a great weekend ahead, throwing a party at the house tomorrow with a few families coming over so that should be fun----I don't do that, that often anymore because its spendy and a lot of work

Ten Things Thursday

1.  So that is what a fill feels like!  I had my fill yesterday and it was a breeze.  I was in and out in 15 min.  No problem finding the port....I cried...really I did.  I was so worked up over it I had convinced myself that my body was rejecting the band and my fill was still going to be a problem.  So I got .8cc put in, now I have 4...thought I had 3.5 put in during surgery but he told me he only put in 3.2  I go back in 2 weeks for another fill
2. Next week we should be in the 100's I am not looking forward to the heat..ughh
3. My mom had a quail go into the chicken coop and lay an egg..then she had the same quail lay an egg outside her shop in the backyard...crazy quail
4.  I took Johnny to get his haircut and the lady showed him how to put gel in his hair so that he could do it himself...low and behold..he likes doing his hair in the morning now because he can do it himself...yeah!!!!
5.  Got in my steps the last few days..pretty much since last Sunday I have been getting in 9000-10000 steps...
6.  We have date night this friday and I am so excited haven't had that in awhile and looking forward to some time with hubby
7.  Work is crazy busy right now...when it rains it pours at work.
8.  I can't think of anything more to add...10 things is hard today.

I don't want my kid to be fat!

So my little boy turned 5 and I have been thinking hard about what I feed him and how I instill exercise in his life.  He is my chance to do it right.  I really believe once you are overweight you will always struggle with your weight.  I think your body stretches out and creates fat pockets which later just allow the fat to sit there.  So I have been bringing Johnny on my walks every night and guess what..he LOVES it and in fact he pushes me to go EVERY night.  I have been trying to get Johnny to eat more of what I eat and trying(really trying but fail sometimes) to spend more time doing stuff just him and I.  I find its hard because I get tired and just want to veg in front of the tv but I don't want to raise a kid who watches tv all the time or who goes into his room and gets on the computer for 4-5 hours.   I want to do things with him as he gets older and I feel if I don't set those habits now he won't want to spend time doing stuff with me.  Now I know he is going to eventually want to hang with his friends I just want to be selfish and have him as my little boy as long as I can.  So walks it is and he has been practicing his bike and scooter...I am still too scare to take him out on the road yet so we keep it to the backyard track but I think soon we will be able to take our bikes out on a ride.  I guess it all boils down to living my life the way I preach it and today is a good day...I feel committed!

Busy weekend~!

I had a busy weekend!  Friday went to Avengers..thought it was pretty good..went with my friend Jay and we put Johnny in the kid zone...love that place and so does Johnny so I didn't feel guilty.  Had a little popcorn but not much..normally I would have eaten half the bag.
On Saturday we had swim lessons, went and got the oil change---hate getting that done.  Did grocery shopping and laundry(swear I live in the laundry room) and then Sunday I taught sunday school and then went to my hubbys grandparents to celebrate nana's birthday...papa was in a mood...just wanted to pick a fight with everyone...same ole same ole.  Man I don't want to be old and cranky like they are...what a miserable existence.  Then took some bedding back from Anna's Linens won't be getting anything there again....it was so cheap it fell apart (comforter-8piece set) the first week.  Johnny ran thru sprinkler and I managed to get in around 8500 steps each day.  It was actually harder to get my steps in this weekend.  I got the ironing done and made my oatmeal for the week.  Made spagetti dinner last night...funny thing is that pasta has not proved to be difficult yet.  Bread yes.  Pizza yes.  Chicken Breast yes.  Rice and Pasta no...
It seems though after each fill I will need to re-evaluate.  Speaking of fills...I get one this Wednesday...no lie...I am nervous. I have not had a successful fill...they have been 45 minute stickem fests...I am hoping this one goes smooth and quick.
Working out my flexible spending account...have to show documentation for a bit of things...hoping I have enough documentation for it...there is one in particular a charge by my weightloss center for 3 years of support..they said that it is deductable on my taxes for medical costs so it should be eligible to use my flexible spending on but we will see.

BYOC

BYOC thanks Drazil!

1. Do you have any Mother’s Day traditions?

We used to go to Tea every year.  My mom and my hubbys grandma but now that I have the band the thought of spending 2 hours eating sandwhichs and scones seems like a stuck fest to me.  So I am trying to think of a new tradition and it may be going to get a pedicure and manicure with my mom.  I will miss Tea though....I loved getting dressed up and going to the RITZ

2. Do you take a daily vitamin? Why or why not?

I do if I remember as well.  Its a gummy vitamin and I have found if I leave it out on the counter I will remember to take it...but i am such an OCD and like a clean kitchen counter that is not feasible.  I also carry them in my purse so if I keep my travel gummies full in my purse I will take them....

3. Do you wear perfume every day? If yes, what kind?

I love wearing perfume...I usually try different ones but still always love Calvin Klien Eternity and I have some cool water and I have beyonce's heat.  I also sometimes just wear lotion---I have some hemp-pomegranite that smells just devine!

4. When you walk or run or work out outside – what do you take with you?

I wear my fitbit, bring water, sometimes sunglasses and a towel or if I take the dog with me a plastic bag for poop, which is actually disgusting because then I am carrying the poop until I find a garbage can and it almost makes me hurl.  But it is getting hot so I probably won't take the dog much longer because the pavement is too hot on my pups feet.  If I take Johnny I also pull the wagon and once he gets tired he rides in it back home.  I always bring my phone.

5. Repeat question. Summarize your week.

Work has been crazy...our lead .net developer quit and kind of left us high and dry so we are scrambling to get a new guy in...luckily you can throw a rock and find a .net developer

Stubborn Weight

So I have made my 10000 steps the last couple of days and really it was not as difficult as I thought---what a big pansy a(*&(
I know I am eating more than I should at around 1500 calories a day...I really think my ideal spot for loosing is around 1200 calories a day, its like anymore than that I just maintain.
I cleaned up my garage the last weekend putting up some shelves and getting my bins up off the floor..so nice that I was able to sweep out the garage and I can now walk around in there with just socks on and not get grossed out---yah!
I am thinking of moving our bbq out of  the garage and put it up on blocks on the back patio---its a huge built in we took from the last house and just have not taken the time to build a bbq in the backyard...partly my fault..I just don't have a vision for my backyard yet.  At one time I wanted a pool but I have kind of given up on that because of water prices up here in Anthem...my water bill(does not include trash) was $380 last summer--more than my electric.  So hubby and I got rid of the grass in the front yard and I have just not been able to part with the grass in the backyard because Johnny loves playing on it...I kind of would like to put some artificial turf back there but again  I need to come up with a vision.
Oh to be able to smoke peyote like an old Indian father and see a vision of what the backyard should look like---HA just kidding!
So back to my subject...stubborn weight.  I am just not dropping any weight...its frustrating.  I go in next week for my second fill...hopefully this one will keep me full longer..ughh
