I'm back from Vacay!

Don't have pics ready yet but wanted to get back to blogging...boy I missed it and missed ready about all of you.  I did get to stay in touch with my fellow boobs girls because there were NUMEROUS emails and challenges that came and went.
So I think I did pretty well on my vacay.  I really tried to watch my portions and what I ate...I did indulge here and there but only 1 bite.
Had a couple sad moments too.  Its amazing to me, how what I eat is affecting my mom.  She is pretty negative about this journey and I never expected it.  I will explain thru some examples.  The second night they had spagetti and I only have 2.8cc in my band so I thought I would be able to eat it....um no.  pasta is just bad...I even ate it slowly and small bites but got stuck and had to throw it up...I was so embarrassed because we all eat dinner together(uncle, aunt, mom, stepdad, and cousins(10) of them) and they all noticed I had to leave the table and that I didn't eat much spagetti.  My mom especially.  Later we were watching fireworks and eating popcorn and my mom said "are you sure you can eat it"  yes I was able to eat popcorn.  I explained again that this is a learning process and I should have stayed away from the pasta but she just disapprovingly looked at me.  Then I told her about an article I read about Rex Ryan losing 100lbs and giving credit to the lapband and we also talked about alcohol and how some banders switch their addiction to alcohol when they don't have food which leads to other problems with their marriage and such, she then says "well, I have not seen anybody turn out hot from the lapband, they all still have extra weight"  wow--I just didn't know what to say.  I was floored that she could discount someones loss.  Too me I interpreted that as great you lost weight but your still fat.  I share so much with my mom by talking to her everyday that I am sad that I am unable to share this journey with her.  She makes me so sad and upset with her comments that I am really going to have to pull away from her on this.  I love her to death  but this is actually really upsetting me.  My nutrionist suggested I start seeing a therapist because my mom is such an influence in my life and she is so negative about the band,  I think he may be right.  He thinks her comments will sabotage me from reaching goal

Anyway...I did take a peak at my weight and I have lost since last week and that makes me happy.  I am trying to make Wednesday my weigh in days so I am going to wait until next week for official weigh in.  I did lots of walking on vacay and no snacking.  My meals were not always the best but they were not terrible.

So I will tell you more fun stuff about the trip once I get my pics in order

I am sorry for the less than supportive mom. You never know what issues your journey is causing her to face. Either way, you just can't let her voice play in your head on this one! You WILL reach your goal and you WILL be hot! Oh, and HEALTHY!!!

If we all had perfect parents, we probably wouldn't have anything to talk about, right!? :) Cheer up, you know you have done yourself a Huge favor!

Yahoo!! You are back!! Was just thinking how much I missed seeing your posts! Let's start talking about an August get together!!

I'm so sorry your mom is not so supportive. That must be hard since you are so close. So, what you should do is completely prove her wrong!! and you WILL!

Good job also on doing well on vacay!

Welcome back!!! So, so sorry about the lack of support from your mom. I think you are already hot! But I also think that you can get to goal...whether that be a number, the way you feel, or the way you look in dem jeans :) Hugs.

Sorry your mom is being such a Debbie Downer. You'll get through it. Sounds like she needs to be a bit more educated on the topic before judging your decision so harshly.

Ugh - why do moms have the ability to kill us with just a few words? Mine can do the same without even meaning to...but still...she can cut me like a knife and I allow it. Mine influences me way too much too and it's not okay...it's just not. I know I should do therapy too - it's just scary. I missed you - glad you are back!

I'm so sorry for the lack of support from your mom. :-( It's hard when you are changing, and someone as close to you as your mom, is not ready to make those changes with you. I think talking to someone (a therapist) is a very good idea. I also think if you get yourself that support, eventually as you are able to not react to the negativity, others (like mom) will come alongside you too, whether it's because they change their opinion, or just because they realize YOU have changed so they can't expect to behave the same way to you. That has been my experience anyway, with changes I have made (in other areas) with family members.

That must be hard to have your Mom not very supportive. Over time you can help educate her on the benefits of the band and be living proof of its success!

I don't even talk with my family ( outside of my house) about the band. They either don't get it, have something stupid to say or just don't care. I also try to avoid eating infront of them since they watch me eat which irritates me. Try to remember that they are who they are and you can't control that. But you can control where you go with your band which BTW is awesome. You have so much control and that is something to be proud of. You keep doing what you're doing cause they certainly will be.

Ps. Don't get too hot before Boobs I don't want strange men following you to our room begging for a date! ;P

It is very difficult when other people just don't get it. Even more so when it is someone so close to you. Hard as it is you need to ignore her comments and accept that she may never understand. As long as you know you are doing what you need to improve yourself, then that is all that matters. By the way, you have an entire community here that gets it!!!

It's so tough when other people say things like that, especially because we are still learning. One of the reasons I hate telling people about the band (or that I'm on a diet, or whatever) is feeling like they are watching me, seeing what I eat, etc. There are so many misconceptions about the band as well and we get a lot of that thrown at us. I feel pre-defensive about it!

I'm glad you did well on your vacation though, I am at the beach myself and trying to keep following my rules!

I'm so sorry your mom isn't very supportive of you and your band. Don't let her sabotage your loss. <3 You will get to goal, and you'll look HOT. I do. LOL (Yeah, I'm saying that in an attempt to try to make myself feel better. But it works. :))
